Mirella Kroes’ presence in the Dutch techno scene is unmistakeable. Growing up on a diet of the tough, loop-oriented techno characteristic of the north of Holland where she was born, Kroes moved to Amsterdam as her musical horizons began to expand. Having cut her DJ teeth at iconic clubs such as Doornroosje, Trouw, Studio 80 and Cruquiusgilde, she now enjoys exploring musically deep, trippy soundscapes and organically building narratives that use space to upset conventional club rubrics.
Delving into ambient, breaks, electronica, experimental and IDM, her Patterns of Perception 59 perfectly manifests these qualities: a sonically diverse, luminescent mix best suited to private spaces, long journeys, and far-away places.
